Police in Kiambaa Sub County have arrested over 30 youths who were found at unlicensed Paradiso Bar consuming sub-standard liquor deemed unsafe for human consumption.

Confirming the incident, Kiambaa Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Taragon stated that the bar, known as Paradiso Bar, is under suspicion for selling sub-standard liquor deemed unsafe for human consumption.

Taragon highlighted that the bar had elected not to adhere to the inspection requirements set forth by the county government of Kiambu.

Salome Wambui, a resident of Gachie town in Kiambu County, expressed the anguish felt by many parents who have lost their sons due to the consumption of illicit brew.

She welcomed the measures implemented by the local administration in combating illicit brews in the area.

County officials have urged young people to adhere to the stipulated laws regarding alcohol consumption. Community Policing Chairman, Douglas Kang’ethe, said that their efforts against alcohol abuse have yielded positive results, with many revelers now complying with opening hours.

However, Kang’ethe pointed out that Paradiso Bar has gained notoriety for consistently flouting the government’s regulation on opening hours.
