Manchester City’s quest for a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title gained further momentum as they delivered a resounding 5-1 victory over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland, the talismanic striker, stole the spotlight with a remarkable four-goal haul, showcasing his lethal finishing prowess.

City, trailing Arsenal by a slim margin after the Gunners’ earlier win over Bournemouth, displayed no signs of faltering under pressure. With just three games remaining, the gap between the two contenders narrowed to a single point, intensifying the title race.

Haaland, often scrutinized for failing to replicate his sensational debut season in Manchester, silenced his critics in emphatic fashion. His clinical display brought his season tally to an impressive 36 goals in 41 appearances, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s most prolific scorers.

The match saw Haaland’s return to the starting lineup following a brief spell on the sidelines due to injury. From the outset, City asserted their dominance, extending their formidable unbeaten home record to 43 games.

Wolves, who had previously inflicted one of City’s rare defeats, found themselves overwhelmed by the hosts’ relentless attacking prowess. Haaland capitalized on defensive errors to convert two first-half penalties before heading home a third goal with authority.

Despite Wolves briefly narrowing the deficit early in the second half, City swiftly reasserted their dominance. A sublime finish from Haaland, latching onto Phil Foden’s precise pass, effectively extinguished any hopes of a Wolves comeback.

Haaland’s four-goal masterclass not only secured City’s victory but also positioned him as the frontrunner for the Premier League Golden Boot, with 25 goals to his name.

As the final whistle blew, City’s unbeaten streak extended to 19 games, underlining their unwavering determination to secure yet another league title. With pivotal fixtures against Fulham and Tottenham looming, followed by a season-ending clash with West Ham, City remain firmly in contention for the coveted trophy.

Meanwhile, Arsenal must rely on City slipping up in the remaining matches if they are to end their two-decade-long title drought. However, City’s relentless pursuit of history suggests that the race for the Premier League crown is far from over.
