A suspected drug trafficker was arrested on Thursday with approximately 100 kilograms of bhang in Nakuru County. The male suspect was apprehended by undercover detectives at a bus terminus in Nakuru-East Sub-County following a tip-off from members of the public.
“Our undercover team, when on routine duties within our area, were able to get a tip-off from a good Samaritan and they were able to nab this consignment of cannabis sativa,” Mohammed Wako , Nakuru East Sub-County Police Commander said.Â
“We haven’t weighed it yet but from the looks of it the consignment weighs approximately 100 kilograms.”Â

Police believe that the drug shipment was destined for Nakuru City.
“Our thinking is that the consignment was intended for Nakuru although the culprit is alleging that it was destined for Nairobi. The suspect was arrested within our jurisdiction before it got to the local market,” said Wako.
According to Wako, samples of the seized contraband will be sent to a government chemist for analysis.
“We have some challenges at the courts where we are told to ascertain that seized contraband like this is actually cannabis sativa. Getting the reports from the government chemist takes a bit of time,” he said.Â
