Residents of Seretunin village in Baringo Central sub-county are in mourning following a tragic domestic dispute that resulted in one brother allegedly killing the other. The incident occurred early on Saturday morning.
According to police reports, Lang’at Kosgey, the assistant chief of Seretunin Sub-location, received a distress call from a colleague at around 1 a.m. alerting him to a violent altercation between two brothers on their property. Kosgey rushed to the scene, hoping to intervene, but upon arrival, he found one of the brothers, 23-year-old Kevin Kimuge Chesire, dead in a pool of blood with a deep cut wound at the back of his head.
Baringo Central OCPD Enrico Telewa Lyomu confirmed the incident, stating that police officers from Seretunin quickly responded to the call. The officers arrested the main suspect, Samuel Chesire Amdany, 28, who is believed to have used a club (rungu) as the murder weapon. The club, stained with blood, was recovered at the scene and retained as evidence.
Kevin Kimuge Chesire’s body has been transported to Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted. Meanwhile, Samuel Chesire Amdany is being held in Kabarnet police custody and is expected to be arraigned in Kabarnet Law Courts on Monday.
The tragic incident has left the Seretunin community in shock and mourning as they come to terms with the loss and the circumstances surrounding it.
