As the highly anticipated Enterprise Cup final approaches, KCB RFC assistant coach Andrew Amonde has issued a stern warning to their arch-rivals Kabras FC. Set to clash on Saturday at the RFUEA Grounds, Amonde promises a fierce contest, declaring that Kabras should expect a “different animal” from the KCB side.
Kabras’ Recent Dominance
Kabras FC has recently established a stronghold in the Kenya Cup, clinching the title three consecutive times. Their latest triumph saw them defeat KCB with a decisive 29-5 victory in the final at the Kakamega Showground in April. Now, Kabras eyes another significant victory, aiming for a four-peat in the Enterprise Cup.
KCB’s Resilience and Determination
Despite Kabras’ recent dominance, KCB RFC remains undeterred. Amonde is confident that his team’s maturity and resolve will shine through in this crucial matchup. “Our team is mature now, and they should expect a different animal come Saturday. We will sweat blood and make sure we reclaim the title,” asserted Amonde.
KCB secured their spot in the final by overcoming Kenya Harlequin 32-18 in a thrilling semi-final at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka. Meanwhile, Kabras Sugar reaffirmed their strength with a commanding 54-8 victory over Nondescripts in the other semi-final at Kakamega Showgrounds.
Shujaa’s Remarkable Comeback
In addition to the club-level excitement, Amonde took a moment to praise the national men’s 7s team, Shujaa, for their remarkable return to the World Rugby Series. The former Shujaa captain highlighted the dedication and discipline that fueled their success. “It was teamwork that took us back. Everyone played their role, the players listened to the technical bench instructions, and when they got to the field, they fought for the pride of the nation which was very impressive,” Amonde reflected.
Rising Star Patrick Odongo
Amonde also commended rising star Patrick Odongo for his outstanding contribution to the team, predicting a bright future for the Day Stars Falcons player. “He is still young but very mature and always willing to listen to instructions and learn from the best. That is the character of a future star. He is going far,” Amonde praised.
Shujaa’s journey back to the topflight rugby was cemented with a 33-15 victory over Germany in the relegation-promotion playoff in Madrid. This victory followed their relegation last year, marking the first loss of their core status in 19 years. Their resurgence began with a shocking win over South Africa in the Africa Sevens in Zimbabwe, earning them an Olympics ticket.
The Anticipated Clash
As KCB RFC and Kabras FC prepare for their final showdown, fans can anticipate a fiercely contested match. With KCB determined to reclaim their glory and Kabras seeking to extend their dominance, the Enterprise Cup final promises to be a thrilling encounter showcasing the best of Kenyan rugby talent.
