The Paris 2024 Olympics has already secured a major triumph even before the Games begin, selling 8.6 million tickets — a record for any Olympic event. This surpasses the previous record of 8.3 million tickets sold during the 1996 Atlanta Games.
Tony Estanguet, the 2024 Games organiser, shared the milestone on Thursday, stating, “We are at 8.6 million tickets for the Olympics, and over one million for the Paralympics.”
Paris organisers anticipate the total ticket sales will reach 10 million for the Olympics, which run from July 26 to August 11, and 3.4 million for the Paralympics, scheduled between August 28 and September 8.
“In this final stretch, we are making available a number of tickets for lots of sports,” Estanguet said, noting the availability of tickets at various price points for the Olympics, Paralympics, and the opening and closing ceremonies.
Expressing pride in the achievement, Estanguet added, “We are proud to have already beaten the record, but we can still do even better.”
