Kenya Adaptive Para Boxing Federation president Mary Atieno has expressed confidence that Kenya will perform well at the upcoming Seven Stars Para Boxing Night in Poland on June 29. During the team’s flag-off by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba on Wednesday, Atieno expressed strong support for the contingent consisting of boxers Emmanuel Yakhama and Evans Odhiambo, and their coach Elijah Mringie, citing their thorough preparations.

“We have trained well and received great support from well-wishers and the sports ministry. Being East African and African champions, I am sure we will be able to conquer the world,” said Atieno.

Head coach Elijah Mringie echoed Atieno’s confidence, emphasizing the team’s readiness and the importance of international exposure. “We have what it takes to deliver medals. More competitions abroad will expose our athletes to international events, making them better,” he said.

Team captain Elijah Yakhama shared similar optimism. “We are set for the games, and we have studied our opponents. We know how we will handle them during the matches,” he said.

Mringie, a former boxer, has been coaching heavyweight Evans Absalom Odhiambo and flyweight Emanuel Agavihi Yakhama at the YMCA Hall in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi. The Seven Stars Para Boxing Night will take place at the Podlaska Arena in Warsaw on June 29.
