A building collapsed in Nairobi’s Kiamaiko area, trapped some under the debris, and left several people injured.
Eyewitnesses report that more than 10 people, including children, were scavenging for scrap metals inside the building, which had been earmarked for demolition. Suddenly, the structure collapsed on Tuesday afternoon, trapping those inside.
Initial reports indicate that three individuals were promptly rescued, but others remain trapped as rescue operations persist. The collapse occurred during a break in the process of demolishing the building, with its structure weakening and giving way unexpectedly.
At the time of reporting, authorities from the National and County Government had yet to provide an official statement on the incident, leaving residents and onlookers anxiously awaiting updates on the ongoing rescue efforts.
