Kenya has unveiled the latest National Health Accounts Estimates Report spaning 2019/20 to 2021/22, shedding light on strides made in the Vision 2030 agenda.

Noteworthy achievements include the provision of free healthcare for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, contributing significantly to the decline in child and maternal mortality rates.

Medical Services PS Harry Kimtai spearheaded the report’s launch, acknowledging persistent hurdles such as unequal healthcare access, insufficient funding, and a dearth of skilled medical personnel.

Kimtai stressed the ongoing imperative to combat both communicable and non-communicable diseases, underscoring the nation’s commitment to holistic healthcare solutions.

The release of the National Health Accounts report marks a crucial step towards bolstering resource mobilization efforts and fostering evidence-based policymaking in Kenya’s healthcare sector.

Kimtai stated the governments’ strategic investments aimed at enhancing health infrastructure and acquiring modern equipment, thereby enhancing access to quality healthcare, in order to address gaps that were previously prevalent across various counties.

“These reforms intend to enhance healthcare delivery by prioritizing the needs of healthcare workers, procurement and distribution of drugs, non-pharmaceuticals and equipment’s and the rehabilitation of health infrastructure,” Kimtai said, acknowledging the support of development partners, including WHO, USAID, and JICA.
